Hello Christian, By the pictures you find enclosed in this message, you will see how wonderful our trip was. We didn’t know what to expect, but we are still amazed by the beauty of Argentina and Chile. We are sure to come back and visit the south of both countries. They say memories last a lifetime and no doubt this is a sure thing with the memories we have of our summer holiday in your wintertime. We are looking forward to get more of this! Thank you very much for a great camper, perfect transfers from our hotel in Buenos Aires and to the airport and for all the information you shared with us.
Many greetings, hoping to see you again soon. Tom and Jet van Puijenbroek, Holland.
National Park trip Argentina, (17-10-2009 > 9-11-2009) A three week camper trip visiting the National Parks (NP) in Argentina. We started in Buenos Aires where Sebastian from Andean Roads picked us up at the airport. With a perfect campervan and fully loaded with supplies, we went to our first stop, San Antonio de Areco. In café de las artes our fist Argentina lunch. (we recommend this restaurant. Good Italian food.) From here on we go to NP Quebrada del Condorito. Our first Condors. In Mina Clavaro the tourist information tips us for a perfect Condor sighting spot, Reserva Chancani, local known as Los Tuneles. Pick a spot between the tuneles and the condors pass you at the same hight. We counted 19 condors, incredible ! We travel on to NP Ischiqualasto and NP Talampaya . Beautiful scenery and many animals, like the Chinchillon, Mara’s and Condors.
After our visit we drive to Pagoncillo. Here we get an unpleasant surprise. At the checkpoint we have to give all our fresh fruits and vegetables. They want to keep out fruit flies. From here we follow the Ruta 40 north. We drive the beautiful Cuesta di Miranda, which gives you an nice overview of the mountain ranges. In Londres we visit Inca ruins. Cafayate is the next stop. We go winetasting at the bodega’s and find some very interesting wines. In Molinos we go up to the highest winery of the world, Bodega Colomé. A beautiful scenery and great wines.
At Cachi we leave Ruta 40 as it becomes a 4WD route, impassable by our campervan, and go to NP los Cardones. Cactus on the mountains. When we leave the park we drive into thick clouds. Very slowly we go down the mountain the other side because the visibility is down to 20 meters maximum. In Salta the sun is back. In NP Laguna de los Ponzuelos we are alone with the Flamingo’s. Freezing at night and 45° C during the day. In Humahuaca we watch the church at 12:00 when the Saint is giving its blessing. NP Calilagua with its forests, birds, lots of mosquito’s, and views is the next stop. Reserva Natural Formosa is a bit of the beaten track but worth the visit. When dry, the roads are good, when wet they are impassable for a campervan. Nice river behind the campground and cameleons, lizards and birds come to see you. NP Rio Pilcomayo gives you an excellent view for birds an monkeys. Driving south on ruta 7 we had an disagreement with the police. They asked for an non existing paper belonging to the campervan. After some time in the office it became clear the policeman wanted pesos. We left without paying of course. Up to NP Chaco where we see owls, tucan’s and armadillo. We here the monkeys in an distance. Beautiful forests. NP Mbunucuya known for its palmtrees. The gaucho’s point us the right direction along the narrow sandy roads. Along the road to Posadas you can find owls, crocodiles, karibu’s and a lot more. Take your time to enjoy. NP Igauzu is an tourist crowded place, but when you are early in the morning you can enjoy the scenery and wildlife at your own. We make a stop at Parque Procinciale Profundidad, a nice quiet place to relax. Reserva Naturel del Iberia is our next destination. Half way the weather changes rapidly. Heavy rains turn the sandy road in an muddpool. We have to stop, driving is impossible with our campervan.
After a few hours we try again. Slowly we make our way to Mercedes. A visit at Gaucho Gil. NP el Palmar brings us back to civilisation.. Our last stop in San Antionio de Areco brings us an pleasant surprise, it is the annual Gaucho Day. We enjoy the festivities. The next day we deliver the campervan at Andean Roads. A perfect trip with an perfect campervan. Thanks Sebastian, hope to see you next trip. Janet & Frank (Holland)
